戴圣杰

Dai Shengjie

戴圣杰，1994年出⽣于中国江苏，曾在美国史密斯学院 (Smith College)、哥伦比亚⼤学(Columbia University)、和纽约⼤学 (New York University) 学习经济、戏剧、视觉艺术。她的作品曾在美国纽约、波⼠顿、新泽西等多地展出，⽬前于上海无题空间UИTITLEDSPΛCE️进进行艺术家驻地项⽬。

戴圣杰的艺术创作围绕着“⾃我”与“⾃然”这两个可变的世界，探索身份认知与外界环境的关系。伴随⾃童年起成长过程中频繁的迁徙经历，她借作品保存记忆和情绪，试图回答“我从哪⾥来，曾到哪⾥去”的问题。2019 年的抽象绘画系列，受在美国新墨西哥州沙漠旅⾏的启发，聚焦⼈体形态与⾃然界元素的关联性；山川河流不仅是单纯的物理存在，⽽且与⼈的⾃我身份密切相连。戴圣杰近期的新作品尝试利⽤混合媒介，在凌乱的解构中探讨女性身体和身份的“去标签化”。

Shengjie Dai is a visual artist based in New York and Shanghai. She studied studio arts, theatre, and economics at Smith College (Massachusetts) and Columbia University (New York). She received her masters degree at New York University. Her works have been widely exhibited in New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.

Shengjie Dai’s artistic practice revolves around the two worlds of “self” and “nature”, proactively exploring the relationship between identity cognition and the external environment. Accompanying her frequent migration experiences during childhood, she uses her works to preserve memories and emotions, trying to answer the questions “where I come from and where I have been”. The 2019 abstract paintings, inspired by her traveling experiences in New Mexico, USA, focus on the correlation between the human figure and natural elements; mountains and lakes are not only pure physical existence but also closely connected with human self-identity. Her recent works attempt to use mixed media to explore the “de-labeling” of female bodies and identities in contemporary society.

Zhu Ziyi

朱子仪，1994年出生于中国。就读于英国皇家艺术学院当代艺术实践专业。现在生活和工作在伦敦和上海。《Notzine》创办人。跨领域艺术家，其作品形式包括行为，影像，装置和诗歌。曾就读于爱丁堡大学，东华大学，纽约城市学院以及英国皇家艺术学院。其作品在上海，北京，澳门和伦敦等地展出。 

最近几年她专注于讨论社会群体与个体之间的批判性关系以及他们之间的相互作用。在当代社会中，作为个体的我们如何被群体价值观的进化裹挟；当代社会现象和运动发生时，个体的参与又如何与社会发展的形态发生互动。 

她试图去探讨在当下可能属于我们的问题：个体的选择和进化如何影响社会发展的选择？她寻找在这样的语境中生长出的新的独立的意识形态。什么是问题? 我们是否有所选择？在将自身置于现象本身当中后，她进行对于“真实”的思考。通过身体，行为和创作方式的实验，完成回应或反思。

Zhu Ziyi, b. 1994 China. Now work and live in London / Shanghai. Studying at Royal College of Art, contemporary art practice. Founder of Notzine. 

Interdisciplinary artist. Her practices include performance, video, installation, and poem. She studied at Edinburgh College of Art, Donghua University, City College of New York, and Royal College of Art. Her works have been exhibited in Shanghai, Beijing, Macao, and London. 

She has been focusing on the critical relationship and interaction between society and individuals in recent years. In contemporary society, how are we, as individuals, bound by the evaluation of group values. How does individual participation interact with the social development pattern when social movement and phenomenon happens？

She tries to explore the problems that we may be facing at the moment: How do the individuals’ choices affecting the direction of society’s development. She is looking for a new, independent ideology under this context. What is the ‘problem’? Do we have a choice? After placing herself in midst of the phenomenon itself, she completes the thinking towards ‘authenticity ’. Through body, performance, and experiment of works, she completes the reflection.

Alice Yutong Hua

Alice Yutong Hua was born in 1995, Shanghai. Now lives and works in China, the US, and Canada. Her practice focuses on paintings with sculptural elements. She graduated from St. Michael’s University School in Victoria, BC, Canada. She then studied visual arts, music, chemistry, sculpture, theatre, and photography at Colby College and School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

She had a great passion for reading and writing in adolescence. She is deeply influenced by observation, experience, expression, and aesthetic preferences from the fictional literature and ancient Chinese poetry. She transferred from a science to a fine art major in her junior year of college. Then she began her exploration of nature and artificiality, randomness and embodiment, organization, and entropy. 

“Things that exist naturally (≠Nature) do not always provide direct explanations. They do not articulate themselves into statements, forms, or signs. After tracing every principle element like color, material, dimension, light condition… the original intention from the creator is only a key. Everything can be fantastic or negligible; everything can be hidden inside a vague void, waiting for the viewers’ interpretations. Looking is the experience, and thus the result.”
