Regina Johas is a multi-disciplinary artist from São Paulo, Brazil. Born in the interior of São Paulo, Johas has a degree in Visual Arts, master’s degree, doctorate (Universidade de São Paulo-USP) and post-doctorate (Universidade Estadual Paulista-UNESP) in Arts. Her background includes a long period of study in Germany in the 80s (Universität zu Köln) and a research stay in Italy (early 90s). She has worked as a researcher and teacher at institutions such as UNICAMP (State University of Campinas/SP), FAAP (Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation/SP) and, since 2016, at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), in the Art Department (DEART).

She began her artistic career in the 1990s. Currently, her production addresses the networks of cultural and historical influences that shape spaces and identities, capturing the conflicts, tensions, and interactions between narratives, places, and the sense of belonging in the contemporary cartography of decolonial relations. With work strategies that include collaboration, research, writing, and drawing, as well as installation, video, and photography, Johas explores the interactions between bodies and the territories we inhabit, triggering affections capable of drawing landscapes that are still unthought of.

Over the years, her work has been exhibited in galleries and Brazilian institutions such as MAM_Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, Paço das Artes_São Paulo, SESC Pompéia_São Paulo, Centro Cultural Vergueiro_São Paulo, MAC_Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Curitiba, Centro Cultural Maria Antônia_São Paulo, Dragão do Mar_Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Fortaleza, MAM_Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, MAM_Museu de Arte Moderna de Salvador, Pinacoteca do RN; as well as international institutions such as Banff Centre for the Arts_Alberta/Canada, Chamalières_France, Bienal de Cerveira_Portugal, Cardiff/UK_England, Galerie der Musikhochschule_Cologne, Germany, Galerie im Margarethenhof_Bonn, Germany.
